Model Rocketry fans should take a quick look at the new FAA regulations regarding model rocketry. These go into effect on February 2, 2009. Included in the regulations are the warning that all amateur rockets must be “unmanned” so remember to stay out of your rockets.

Like many, I started my model rocket hobby as a kid, with an Estes starter kit. I don’t even remember the name now, but it was easy to assemble, and came with a relatively low powered rocket motors. Over the years, I built more advanced models, and then eventually went on to RC planes.
Now, with sons of my own, we are exploring the model rocketry hobby once again, and it’s brought back the joy of watching something you built soar far into the atmosphere.
